HILLSBOROUGH HOUSE
We helped our wheel chair-bound client renovate his 1970s bathroom and game room to provide more space for him to maneuver and to entertain friends and family. We gutted the master bedroom and expanded the doorframe to the bathroom. We demolished the bathroom to create a shower room; we installed well-positioned grab bars, new shower fixtures and recessed shelves. We also created a slight slope on the new Travertine tiled floor to allow easy drainage. Our goal was to open up the bathroom and provide full accessibility to our client.
For the game room, we demolished the room and common area bathroom. We designed and built a sports bar that allowed our client complete access. We built the bar with custom cabinets in solid cherry wood, adding cherry flooring as well as cherry wainscoting under the bar top, and a granite counter top. We installed an ADA-approved toilet and sink. We retiled the walls and floor, and completed the new bathroom with a frameless shower door. We also built an elevator that connects the master bedroom to the new game room. We demolished the concrete outside the game room, poured a new concrete pad, and created another exit / entrance to allow our client access to his backyard. For the final touch, our team rewired and installed a new surround-sound audio system for both the interior and exterior of the house, which has a swimming pool and deck.
